Alexandra Maria Lara was born in Romania and is now a Romanian/German actress. Her most famous films are Rush, Downfall Youth Without Youth Control. As the sole child of Romanian actress Valentin Platareanu, Alexandra began her career in showbiz as a child. She played lead roles in TV dramas as young as 16 years old. Her critically-acclaimed performance in the made-for-television film Der Tunnel paved way for many other noteworthy roles, including that of Adolf Hitler's secretary Traudl Junge from the commercially and critically successful Oscar nominated historical war film Downfall. The Reader, Der Baader Meinhof Komplex and The Reader are also Oscar-nominated movies featuring this diva. Alexandra is well-known for her participation in a variety of important projects in both the US as well as internationally. The projects include British biographical films Control and The Dust of Time as in addition to the French historic miniseries Napoleon. She has also been an adjudicator at the Transylvania International Film Festival as in at the Cannes Film Festival.
